Kolkata: West Bengal State Minister Agnimitra Paul on Monday visited the family of a young girl who was allegedly sexually harassed by a neighbour in the Narendrapur area recently. The minister expressed solidarity with the victim's family and assured them of strict action against the perpetrator.

Later in the day, Paul held a meeting at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Baruipur. During the meeting, she directed the police officials to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused and demanded exemplary punishment for the offender. The minister emphasized that such crimes against women and children would not be tolerated and that the law would take its course swiftly.

Paul instructed the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and file a charge sheet at the earliest. She also urged the authorities to provide necessary security and support to the victim and her family. The minister reiterated the state government's commitment to women's safety and zero tolerance towards sexual offences.
