The Army’s Spearhead Division of Spear Corps commemorated Labour Day at forward locations in Menchuka valley, paying tribute to the dedication, resilience, and invaluable contribution of porters who continue to play a vital role in sustaining operations in challenging high-altitude terrain.
Interaction and Recognition
Defence PRO Lt Col M Rawat stated that as part of the observance, a meaningful interaction and tea gathering was organised with the porters, recognising their hard work and steadfast support in ensuring movement of essential stores, supplies, and logistics to remote forward areas.
More than 50 porters participated in the gathering, which provided an opportunity for informal interaction, expression of gratitude, and strengthening of mutual trust, the PRO added.

The event highlighted the important role played by local porters as an essential link in operational sustenance, particularly in difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions. Their contribution reflects courage, commitment, and quiet service in support of the nation’s security framework.
