Marsh's Blitz Secures Series Sweep
Captain Mitchell Marsh smashed a 28-ball 60 as Australia defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the third Twenty20 international in Chattogram on Sunday, completing a 3-0 series sweep. Chasing a modest target of 110, Australia reached 112-3 in just 11 overs, with Marsh dominating the bowling attack with seven fours and four sixes.
Marsh and Josh Inglis added 54 runs in the first powerplay, setting a solid foundation. Inglis fell for 17, caught off left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. Marsh then brought up his 14th T20 fifty off 23 balls with a slog-sweep six off leg-spinner Rishad Hossain. However, pacer Shoriful Islam, one of three changes Bangladesh made to avoid the sweep, had Marsh caught by Shamim Hossain with Australia still needing 22 runs.
David Finishes in Style
Tim David sealed the victory with two consecutive sixes off Rishad, finishing unbeaten on 12 alongside Matt Renshaw, who scored 89 not out in the previous match, on 6. Earlier, Bangladesh captain Towhid Hridoy fought a lone battle, scoring an unbeaten 61 off 51 balls with three fours and three sixes to guide his team to 109-8 after electing to bat first. Rishad Hossain was the only other Bangladeshi batter to reach double digits, with 16.
Australian fast bowlers Spencer Johnson and Nathan Ellis, along with leg-spinner Adam Zampa, each took two wickets. Australia had won the first T20 by four wickets and the second by seven runs. Bangladesh had earlier won the preceding three-match ODI series 2-1.
