Rajkumar Sharma, the childhood coach of Indian cricket star Virat Kohli, along with Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley, have expressed their admiration for the newly inaugurated cricket academy at Delhi Public School (DPS) RK Puram. The academy aims to provide world-class training facilities to young cricketers, fostering the next generation of talent.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The academy boasts modern infrastructure, including indoor nets, bowling machines, and a well-maintained ground. Sharma emphasized the importance of such facilities in shaping young players, recalling how limited resources didn't hinder Kohli's early training but noted that proper amenities can accelerate development.
Encouraging Grassroots Development
Rohan Jaitley highlighted the academy's role in grassroots cricket, stating that it aligns with DDCA's vision to promote cricket at the school level. He assured support from the association in terms of coaching and exposure for talented students.
The academy will also focus on mental conditioning and fitness, aspects that Sharma believes are crucial for modern cricketers. He cited Kohli's discipline and work ethic as examples for aspiring players.
Parents and students welcomed the initiative, hoping it will provide a platform for young cricketers to hone their skills under expert guidance. The academy plans to conduct regular trials and camps to identify and nurture talent from an early age.
