Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have been struggling to find the right combination in the ongoing IPL 2026 season, according to veteran pacer Umesh Yadav. He pointed out that the team lacks control and consistency, which has affected their performance in the tournament.
Umesh Yadav on LSG's Performance
Speaking exclusively to India TV, Umesh Yadav expressed his concerns over LSG's inconsistent run. “The team is struggling to find the right combination. We have tried different players in different positions, but we haven't been able to get the desired results. There is a lack of control and consistency in our game,” he said.
Umesh, who has been part of the LSG setup this season, emphasized the need for the team to step up collectively. “We need to perform as a unit. Everyone has to take responsibility. The bowling unit, especially, needs to be more disciplined and consistent,” he added.
IPL 2026 Season So Far
LSG have had a mixed campaign in IPL 2026, winning some matches but losing crucial games due to poor execution. The team management has been tinkering with the playing XI, but the desired stability has eluded them. Umesh believes that the team needs to settle on a core group of players to build momentum.
“In a tournament like the IPL, you need to have a settled combination. Constantly changing the team doesn't allow players to settle into their roles. We need to back our players and give them a consistent run,” he explained.
Focus on Bowling Discipline
Umesh, known for his pace and aggression, stressed the importance of bowling discipline. “We are leaking runs in the middle overs and not taking wickets at crucial junctures. The bowlers need to work on their lines and lengths. We also need to execute our plans better,” he said.
The pacer also praised the team's batting unit but noted that they need to convert starts into big scores. “Our batters have got starts, but they haven't been able to convert them into match-winning knocks. We need someone to play a big innings and take the team to a competitive total,” he added.
Looking Ahead
With several matches remaining in the league stage, LSG still have a chance to turn things around. Umesh remains optimistic and believes that the team can bounce back. “We have the talent and the capability. It's just about putting it all together. If we can find the right combination and play to our potential, we can still make it to the playoffs,” he concluded.
LSG will face a crucial test in their next match against a strong opponent, and fans will be hoping that the team can finally find the winning formula.
