Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated six indoor cricket academies established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) across the northeastern states of India. The ceremony took place on 28 April 2026, marking a significant step in promoting cricket infrastructure in the region.

The event was attended by International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah, along with all office bearers of the BCCI. Administrators from the other five northeastern states participated via video conference, ensuring widespread representation despite geographical distances.
