A tragic road accident in Trichy claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy and left two of his friends injured late Monday night. The incident occurred when the two-wheeler they were riding collided head-on with a government bus on the Madurai-Trichy service road.
Details of the Accident
The deceased has been identified as P Thayananthan, a minor, who was riding the motorcycle. His pillion riders were R Nirmal, 18, and C Manoharan, 26. All three were residents of Malligaipatti near Marungapuri in Trichy district. The accident took place around 7:30 PM at a bridge in Thalampatti. According to police, the bike was heading towards Trichy when it collided with a government bus traveling from Thuvarankurichi to Kallampatti.
Injuries and Medical Response
The impact of the collision left all three individuals with severe injuries. They were immediately rushed to the Thuvarankurichi Government Hospital for first aid. Later, they were transferred to a private hospital in Manapparai for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, Thayananthan succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning. His body was sent to Manapparai Government Hospital for an autopsy and subsequently handed over to his grieving family.
Police Investigation
The bus driver, A Palanivel, filed a complaint following the incident. Based on his statement, the local police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
