Hyderabad: Three persons died and three others sustained injuries when two cars collided head-on in Nalgonda district on Thursday night.
Victims Identified
The deceased were identified as Kakarla Thomasaiah, 51, a farmer from Kakarlapalem in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh; his son, Prakash Rao, 35, a private teacher from Shadnagar; and Sai Kumar, 21, an engineer from Warangal working for a contractor at an irrigation project near Nagarjuna Sagar.
Accident Details
According to Peddavoora Sub-Inspector J Gopala Rao, the accident occurred at 10 pm on Thursday when the two cars collided at Ramannagudem. Thomasaiah and his son were traveling to a church at Nagarjuna Sagar in a cab from Shadnagar. The second car (XL6), carrying Sai Kumar, his colleagues V Ramakrishna (site engineer), and K Sai (helper), was traveling from Nagarjuna Sagar to Peddavoora when it crashed into the cab.
The preliminary probe indicates that Ramakrishna, while trying to overtake another vehicle, lost control and crashed into the oncoming cab, the SI said.
Response and Treatment
Alerted by locals, Peddavoora police rushed to the spot and transported the six injured to a nearby hospital at Nagarjuna Sagar. Thomasaiah, Prakash, and Sai Kumar were declared dead at the hospital. Among the three injured, Sai and cab driver Praveen were discharged on Friday after treatment. Ramakrishna, who suffered a head injury, is undergoing treatment and is out of danger.
Police Investigation
Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Sharat Chandra Pawar visited the accident spot on Friday morning. He stated that speeding, rash, and negligent driving are the causes of such accidents and appealed to motorists to be cautious while overtaking and follow road safety rules.
Peddavoora police registered a case under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 125 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS. The bodies were handed over to families after postmortem.
