The Indian Army successfully conducted a four-day mega eye care camp, ‘Drishti 2026’, at the military hospital in Namkum, Ranchi, from June 16 to 19. Approximately 2,500 individuals underwent comprehensive eye check-ups during the camp, and a total of 393 eye surgeries were performed successfully.
Beneficiaries of the Camp
The Army stated that the beneficiaries included veterans, veer naris (war widows), military families, as well as local residents from Ranchi and surrounding tribal areas. This initiative aimed to provide essential eye care services to those in need.
Medical Services Provided
Expert medical teams offered thorough eye examinations, advanced diagnostic investigations, specialist consultations, and sight-restoring treatments. State-of-the-art equipment was airlifted to Namkum specifically for diagnosing patients, ensuring high-quality care.
Minister’s Remarks
During the concluding session of the camp, Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth highlighted that the Indian Army not only fights enemies on the battlefield but also comes to the rescue of people during natural disasters. He praised the efforts of the medical teams and the Army’s commitment to community welfare.
