Djokovic and Serena Williams Reunite at Wimbledon Training
Serbian tennis icon Novak Djokovic met American legend Serena Williams during his training session at Wimbledon, as the 23-time Grand Slam winner prepares for her return to the All England Club as a wildcard in women's singles. Djokovic, who is chasing his 25th Grand Slam title and has not won a major since the 2023 US Open, shared snippets of the encounter on social media.
Serena Williams Returns to Wimbledon Singles After Four Years
The 2026 Championships are scheduled from June 29 to July 12, with Williams' return expected to be a major storyline. Wimbledon confirmed the development via an Instagram post on Monday, announcing the seven-time singles champion's wildcard entry. This marks her first appearance in the women's singles draw at Wimbledon in four years, following her earlier doubles wildcard alongside sister Venus Williams.
Williams' Comeback Journey
The 44-year-old, regarded as one of the greatest players in tennis history, stepped away from professional tennis after the 2022 US Open. She returned to competitive action earlier this month at Queen's Club, partnering rising star Victoria Mboko in doubles. The pair won their opening-round match, but Mboko was forced to withdraw due to injury, which also prevents her from participating at Wimbledon.
Venus Williams Continues Doubles Comeback
Venus Williams, who made her return to the tour last July after a 16-month break, is currently ranked No. 119 in doubles. Her best result since returning came at the 2025 US Open, where she reached the quarterfinals partnering Leylah Fernandez.
