India Failed to Adapt Conditions: Abhishek Sharma After Ireland Defeat

India Suffer First-Ever T20I Defeat to Ireland

India's left-hand batter Abhishek Sharma attributed the team's shocking 34-run loss to Ireland in the opening T20I in Belfast to an inability to adapt quickly to the playing conditions. This victory marked Ireland's first-ever win against India across all formats of the game.

Speaking after the match, Sharma stressed the importance of rapid adaptation, especially with a packed schedule. "It's just how quickly we adapt the conditions, that's really matters as a team, because when you are playing back to back games, as a group you have to step forward and get used to the conditions, whenever you get practice sessions or probably get used to, I feel as a dominating team, you have to adapt really quick and that's what we were trying today, but unfortunately it didn't happen," he told reporters.

Ireland's Batting Sets Up Historic Win

Ireland captain Lorcan Tucker played a pivotal role, scoring a half-century to guide his team to a formidable 182/9 in their 20 overs. India's star-studded batting lineup then crumbled under pressure, managing only 148 runs before being dismissed in 18.5 overs.

Sharma was the lone bright spot for India, scoring 50 runs off just 20 balls. However, the rest of the batting order failed to fire against Ireland's inspired bowling attack.

Ireland's Bowlers Shine

Left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys and Matt Hollard each took three wickets, while debutant Jai Moondra impressed with figures of 2/25 in his four overs. Their disciplined bowling ensured Ireland defended their total comfortably.

The two teams are set to face each other again in the second and final T20I on Sunday. India will look to bounce back and level the series, while Ireland aims to build on their historic victory.
