Yuvraj Sandhu opened his campaign at the DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia with a round of even par 71, placing him tied for 93rd on the leaderboard after the first day at Circolo Golf Torino in Turin, Italy.
Course Record Set by Home Favourite
Local favourite Eduardo Molinari, playing on his home course, set a new course record with an 8-under 63 to take the outright lead. He is closely followed by Joaquim Niemann, who carded a 7-under 64.
Sandhu's Round: Birdies and Bogeys
Sandhu started his first round on the front nine with a birdie but dropped a shot on the third hole. Another bogey on the eighth hole saw him turn at even par, despite a birdie on the ninth. On the back nine, he made an early birdie on the 11th but was forced to settle for a score of even par 71 due to a late bogey on the 17th hole. Sandhu will need a stronger second round to make his fourth cut of the 2026 season.
Molinari Ends Title Drought?
Eduardo Molinari has not won a title since the Trophee Hassan II in 2017. His strong start could help the veteran kickstart what has been a difficult year, with only two cuts made in six appearances. Molinari made ten birdies and two bogeys in his opening round.
Niemann in Contention
Joaquim Niemann trails the leader by one stroke after making eight birdies and one bogey to record a 7-under 64.
