Belagavi: Air connectivity from Belagavi is set to improve further, with Star Air announcing a new flight service linking Mundra in Gujarat’s Kutch district to Belagavi via Mumbai. The service will commence on June 23 and operate five days a week.
According to an airline release, flights from Mundra will reach Belagavi at 9.30pm, either on the same aircraft or through a connecting service via Mumbai. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the flight will depart Mundra at 6.30pm and arrive in Belagavi at 9.30pm. On Fridays and Sundays, departure is scheduled at 2.10pm from Mundra, with arrival in Belagavi at 9.30pm via Mumbai.
Mundra, one of India’s largest commercial ports, is a key industrial and logistics hub in Gujarat. The new connectivity is expected to benefit industrial, commercial and business travellers between North Karnataka and the Kutch region. Star Air has been expanding its network from Mundra since the start of the year.
Currently, Belagavi has direct air links only with Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai. The new service, however, does not offer direct connectivity between Mundra and Belagavi, as all operations are routed via Mumbai.
The development has brought cheer to the industrial fraternity in Belagavi district, as many industries have direct business links with Gujarat for import and export.
