The San Francisco 49ers experienced a remarkable run on the field last season, finishing with 12 wins and 5 losses. Despite their strong regular-season performance, the team faced a heartbreaking loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round. Now, all attention is on improving the roster ahead of the new season.
49ers Eyeing Kyle Van Noy
A few hours ago, CBS Sports' Carter Bahns linked the San Francisco 49ers to former Baltimore Ravens star player Kyle Van Noy. Bahns noted in a recent report, "Last year's bevy of injuries made apparent the need for more depth on the edge in San Francisco." He added, "With season-ending ailments to defensive ends Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams and linebacker Fred Warner, the 49ers saw tons of firepower on the defensive front go on the shelf and struggled to pressure the pocket as a result. Even if that trio returns to full strength early in the 2026 season, the unit could still benefit from an addition." Bahns continued, "Joey Bosa remains on the market and would be an enticing target because of his familial ties to the roster, but Van Noy made it very clear he wants to join this squad."
Van Noy's Interest in the 49ers
Though the San Francisco 49ers have stayed away from commenting on trade talks concerning Kyle Van Noy, the star player has expressed his interest in the team. On Tuesday, the former Baltimore Ravens star made an appearance on Kay Adams' "Up & Adams," where he said, "I'd really like to play with my little brother Fred Warner with the Niners…" He added, "I think they got something cooking over there. I know they love Joey Bosa because of Nick and all that."
Van Noy's Recent Performance
The 35-year-old has had an interesting turn of events on the field in the last few seasons. Kyle Van Noy was exceptional in the 2024 season, recording at least 1.0 sack over his last five games. He finished the season with 41 tackles (25 solo), 12.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles across 16 games, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. However, Van Noy struggled in the 2025 season, recording 20 tackles (12 solo), 2.0 sacks, 1 interception, and 4 passes defended across 15 games. He also sustained a brutal hamstring injury last year. All eyes are now on what Kyle Van Noy chooses to do next in his career.
