Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Monday announced the launch of the ‘Brahmagupta Award’ in honour of the renowned mathematician and astronomer Brahmagupta, who was born in the 7th century in Bhinmal, Jalore district. The award will recognize outstanding contributions in science, mathematics, innovation, and research by scientists, students, and talented individuals.
Innovation Centre in Jaipur
The chief minister also announced the establishment of an innovation centre in Jaipur’s coaching hub to promote entrepreneurship, technological creativity, and startup culture among students and young innovators. Sharma made these announcements while addressing the state-level National Technology Day celebrations at Birla Auditorium in Jaipur, where he called upon the youth to make Rajasthan a global leader in technology and innovation.
Call to Youth for Global Leadership
Sharma emphasized that science, research, and technological advancement are the real drivers of development in the modern era. “Young people should use innovation to make Rajasthan a global technology leader and contribute towards building an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The state government is fully committed to supporting their aspirations,” the chief minister said. He added that the state government is developing a strong ecosystem for startups, skill development, research, and digital services to help youth realize their dreams and participate in nation-building through innovation and entrepreneurship. Sharma urged young people to overcome hesitation and pursue their ambitions with confidence.
Significance of National Technology Day
Highlighting the significance of National Technology Day, the chief minister said May 11 symbolizes India’s self-confidence, self-reliance, and scientific capability, recalling the Pokhran nuclear tests conducted in 1998 under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also praised former President and scientist APJ Abdul Kalam for his contribution to India’s scientific achievements. The event underscored the state’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and research among the youth, aligning with the national vision of a self-reliant India.
