Haryana Police Takes Down 583 Objectionable Links in Major Digital Cleanup
The Haryana Police announced a significant achievement in its ongoing digital campaign on Saturday. Officials confirmed the removal of objectionable content from 583 links and profiles identified during the past month.
Campaign Targets Social Media Misconduct
Last month, Haryana's cybersecurity police launched a comprehensive digital initiative. This campaign takes a strict stance against illegal and objectionable activities proliferating across social media platforms. The police collaborate closely with the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology on this effort.
An official spokesperson for the Haryana Police provided details about the operation. The cyber team works daily to identify problematic posts, videos, links, and profiles. They specifically look for content containing misinformation, provocative language, or material that disrupts public peace.
Upon detection, the police issue immediate notices to the relevant social media platforms. These notices demand removal under Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act. The spokesperson emphasized that authorities tolerate no laxity in this entire process.
Additional 435 Links Under Review
The police reported a total of 1,018 links and profiles over the last month. While 583 have been successfully removed, the remaining 435 are currently in various stages of status review. Officials stated these will be taken down soon.
This figure demonstrates the serious commitment of the Haryana Police toward maintaining order on social media, the spokesperson added.
Special Campaign Against Suspicious Apps
Director General of Police Ajay Singhal revealed another facet of their digital enforcement. To control increasing activities of suspicious apps and channels operating under the guise of trading and investment, Cyber Haryana launched a special organized campaign starting January 12.
Under this initiative, authorities identified 28 such apps and channels with suspicious operations so far. Police successfully removed 14 from digital platforms already. The final review and takedown process for the remaining 14 by social media intermediaries is progressing rapidly, DGP Singhal confirmed.
Continued Vigilance Promised
Singhal assured the public that this campaign will continue with full strength. The goal remains ensuring compliance with laws on social media and all digital platforms.
Any attempt to spread hate content, misinformation, or commit online fraud will not be tolerated, the DGP stated clearly. He promised time-bound action at every level against such violations.
The Haryana Police's digital campaign represents a proactive approach to cybersecurity challenges. By targeting objectionable content and suspicious financial platforms simultaneously, authorities aim to create a safer online environment for citizens across the region.
