Telangana RTC Staff Get 11% Fitment, Union Polls Cleared

Hyderabad: Employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) will finally receive an 11% fitment under the Revised Pay Scales (RPS) 2021, effective from July 1, ending a nearly five-year wait for wage revision. The state government also decided on Thursday to initiate the process for recognizing union elections, another long-pending issue.

Government Review and Decisions

The announcements followed a review of the state-run transport utility's functioning, which employs over 38,000 people. Apart from employee-related decisions, the government directed the corporation to expedite infrastructure projects, including the construction of new depots at Nagarkurnool and Peddapalli.

Operational Scale and Future Plans

According to official figures, TGSRTC currently operates 10,173 buses, catering to approximately 61 lakh passengers daily. The government is also planning a meeting of transport ministers and senior officials from southern states to discuss electric mobility and pollution-control measures in public transport.
