Jio Unveils 15-Month Broadband Plan Under Freedom Offer
Reliance Jio has launched a new broadband plan as part of its Freedom Offer, providing customers with 15 months of high-speed internet at 100Mbps along with bundled OTT subscriptions. The move is designed to offer long-term affordability in the competitive home internet market.
Plan Details and Pricing
The plan is priced at Rs 8,499 for the entire 15-month period, effectively bringing the monthly cost down to approximately Rs 566. This represents a savings of about 20% compared to monthly renewal options. According to a Jio spokesperson, "This plan is tailored for users who want uninterrupted connectivity and entertainment without frequent renewals."
OTT Benefits Included
Subscribers will gain access to premium OTT platforms including Netflix (mobile plan), Amazon Prime Video, and JioCinema. The combined value of these subscriptions is estimated at over Rs 3,000 annually. This makes the plan attractive for streaming enthusiasts.
Speed and Data Limits
The plan offers 100Mbps speed with no fair usage policy (FUP) limit for the first 15 months, ensuring consistent high-speed data. However, terms and conditions apply, and speed may vary based on network congestion.
Comparison with Competitors
Competitors like Airtel and BSNL offer similar long-term plans but often with lower speeds or fewer OTT perks. Jio's 15-month duration is unique in the market, providing almost 1.3 years of service in one go.
Availability and Activation
The plan is available for new and existing JioFiber customers. Existing users can migrate to this plan without additional fees. Activation is instant through the MyJio app or customer care.
Impact on the Broadband Market
Analysts believe this move could intensify competition, especially during the festive season. Jio has already captured a significant market share with its aggressive pricing. Rivals may need to respond with similar bundled offerings to retain customers.
