In a shocking incident early Sunday morning, two armed men aboard the DDU-Tarighat passenger train shot a youth and flung his body onto the railway tracks between Alinagar and Sakaldiha in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. The assailants then jumped off the moving train and escaped under the cover of darkness.
Sequence of Events
The incident occurred when the train departed from Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction at 7:30 am. Two youths carrying backpacks boarded the train and shortly after it crossed Alinagar, they got into a heated argument with another passenger. Within seconds, gunshots rang out, causing panic among passengers who fled their seats in fear.
Eyewitness Accounts
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants shot the youth at point-blank range, targeting his temple. They then dragged his body to the door and threw it onto the tracks. As the train slowed near Sakaldiha, the two perpetrators jumped off and vanished into the morning shadows. No one in the coach dared to confront them due to the sudden violence.
Police Response
Some passengers alerted the railway control room and police. Officers from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police rushed to the tracks near Ibrahimpur village, where the victim's body had fallen. SP GRP Prashant Verma confirmed that personnel from the GRP PDDU Junction station reached the spot, collected forensic evidence, completed legal formalities, and sent the body for postmortem.
Investigation Underway
Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, and CCTV footage from previous stations is being reviewed to trace the shooters. GRP officials also questioned passengers who were on the train to gather more details about the incident.
