Mizoram Hits 95.53% SIR Digitisation, Leads Nation

Aizawl: Mizoram has achieved 95.53% digitisation of enumeration forms as of Thursday in the ongoing third phase of the Special Integrated Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This milestone was reached after completing digitisation in three districts covering seven assembly constituencies.

Out of the state's total electorate of 8,75,068, enumeration forms of 8,35,954 electors have been digitised so far. The three districts that have achieved 100% digitisation are Champhai, bordering Myanmar, which has three assembly constituencies; adjoining Khawzawl, which has one assembly seat; and Serchhip district in central Mizoram, which has three Assembly seats.

South Mizoram's Siaha district has achieved 99.92% digitisation, followed by Saitual district, bordering Manipur, at 99.76%. Officials from the chief electoral officer (CEO) confirmed that Mizoram is leading in digitisation of enumeration forms, with neighbouring Manipur at 67.35%.

According to the Election Commission of India's (ECI) deadline, distribution, collection and digitisation of enumeration forms under the ongoing SIR—launched on May 30—are to be completed by June 28. An official stated, "We expect the process in Mizoram to be completed before the deadline as 1,301 Block Level Officers (BLOs) are working diligently."

The state's electorate has grown significantly over the years. During the 2005 SIR, there were 5,59,123 electors. By 2025, this number has increased to 8,75,068, comprising 4,23,397 male and 4,51,671 female voters.
