Prayagraj: The 21st convocation ceremony of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), Prayagraj, is scheduled for July 17. The event will be presided over by Governor Anandiben Patel, who is also the chancellor of the university.
Chief Guest and Guests of Honour
Renowned folk singer and Padma Shri awardee Malini Awasthi will be the chief guest. Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay and Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari will be the guests of honour.
Degree Distribution and Awards
Students who have successfully completed undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes through open and distance learning for the December 2025 and June 2026 sessions will receive their degrees. Outstanding students will be awarded Chancellor's Medals and University Gold Medals for academic excellence.
Deekshotsav Programmes
Public Relations Officer Prabhat Chandra Mishra stated that a series of 'Deekshotsav' programmes will be organised on a large scale in the university's adopted villages before the convocation. The action plan for these activities has been finalised.
Committees and Preparations
Vice-Chancellor Prof Satyakam has formed 17 committees to ensure the smooth conduct of the convocation. These committees will manage auditorium decoration, security, registration, medal finalisation, degree distribution, hospitality, stage management, media coordination, discipline, cultural programmes, and Deekshotsav activities. The VC emphasised that all arrangements will be completed well in advance to ensure grandeur and dignity.
Registration Process
The university's top priority is the timely declaration of examination results. The registration process for learners intending to participate in the convocation will begin in the last week of June 2026.
