Indian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Abhay Kumar, undertook a series of engagements in the Lankaran and Lerik regions of southern Azerbaijan to strengthen bilateral ties in culture, wellness, agriculture, and environment, according to a statement from the Embassy of India in Azerbaijan.
Visit to Lankaran Museum
In Lankaran, Ambassador Kumar visited the Lankaran Museum of History and Local Lore, where he met Director Leyla Majidova. He explored the region's rich historical and cultural heritage and learned about its role in preserving local traditions.
Wellness and Yoga Promotion
The Ambassador also visited the Yenee Wellness Center and met Dr. Emil Hidayatli, Chief Doctor. They discussed promoting Ayurveda, yoga, and holistic wellness in Azerbaijan. Dr. Hidayatli highlighted yoga's health benefits ahead of the International Day of Yoga.
Tea Plantation Visit
Ambassador Kumar visited a green tea plantation and met owner Araz Yagubov. He learned about the region's tea-growing traditions and modern techniques. The discussions emphasized shared tea cultures and opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange.
Natural Heritage Exploration
He also visited Hirkan National Park and Khanbulan Lake, experiencing the region's biodiversity. He shared a video linking nature and wellness to yoga.
Visit to Lerik and Museum of Longevity
In Lerik, he visited the Museum of Longevity, dedicated to centenarians. Senior Curator Matanat Guliyeva briefed him on exhibits and Lerik's reputation as the 'Land of Centenarians' in the Talysh Mountains.
The visit underscored growing people-to-people ties and a shared commitment to cooperation in culture, wellness, sustainable agriculture, eco-tourism, and conservation. Ambassador Kumar appreciated the warm hospitality and looked forward to strengthening exchanges.
