External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to inaugurate a special exhibition at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, highlighting India's profound contributions to the field of mathematics. The event, organized by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, will take place on Monday during the minister's brief visit to the city.
Exhibition Highlights India's Mathematical Heritage
The exhibition aims to showcase the rich legacy of Indian mathematicians, from ancient scholars like Aryabhata and Brahmagupta to modern luminaries such as Srinivasa Ramanujan. It will feature interactive displays, historical artifacts, and digital presentations that illustrate India's pivotal role in developing concepts like zero, the decimal system, and algebraic methods.
Jaishankar's Diplomatic Engagement
During his visit, Jaishankar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with UN officials and representatives from member states. The exhibition underscores India's soft power and its commitment to sharing cultural and intellectual achievements with the global community.
The Permanent Mission of India to the UN has been actively promoting India's heritage through such initiatives. This exhibition aligns with broader efforts to strengthen India's cultural diplomacy and foster greater appreciation for its scientific contributions.
Jaishankar's itinerary includes interactions with the Indian diaspora and participation in other diplomatic events. The exhibition is open to UN delegates, staff, and visitors, running for a limited period at the UN Headquarters.
