Victory Day has received a cinematic and high-tech upgrade this year. The 81st anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany was not only about historical remembrance but also about the current frontlines. For the first time, Russia broadcast live combat footage of its drone units in action across Red Square.
Live Drone Footage from Ukraine
During the parade, the Kremlin aired real-time footage of drone operations in Ukraine. This included the launch of Geran-2 suicide drones and the debut of the advanced Geran-5 system. The broadcast aimed to send a clear message: the spirit of 1945 has been digitized for the modern battlefield.
Significance of the Display
The unprecedented move highlights Russia's emphasis on technological warfare and its ongoing conflict in Ukraine. By integrating live combat feeds into the Victory Day celebrations, the Kremlin sought to draw a direct line between the historical victory over Nazi Germany and contemporary military operations.
