TVK's Prabhakar Wins Thousand Lights Seat by Big Margin

Thousand Lights has delivered a clear result, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's J C D Prabhakar winning the seat by a solid margin. With counting complete across 18 rounds, Prabhakar secured 58,965 votes, defeating DMK's Dr Ezhilan Naganathan, who polled 43,824 votes.

AIADMK's B Valarmathi finished third with 23,320 votes. The 2021 election saw Dr Ezhilan Naganathan (DMK) secure a comfortable win with 71,867 votes, or 52.9 percent vote share, defeating the high-profile BJP candidate Khushbu Sundar, who contested as part of the AIADMK alliance and polled 39,405 votes. The victory margin was 32,462 votes. In the 2016 election, the seat was won by Ku. Ka. Selvam (DMK), who polled 61,726 votes, defeating the AIADMK's B. Valarmathi by 8,829 votes.

The voter turnout this year was 82.76 percent, which is a major jump compared to 56.05 percent in the 2021 elections. Thousand Lights, assembly constituency number 20, is located in Central Chennai. It is a historic, high-density seat known for its cultural, religious, and political significance. Landmarks like the Thousand Lights Mosque, Apollo Hospitals, and the bustling commercial hubs of Nungambakkam and Choolaimedu define its identity.
