BAY OF BENGAL: Severe Cyclone Montha unleashed its fury on the eastern coastline on Tuesday morning, making landfall between Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Gopalpur in Odisha. The powerful weather system has triggered one of the largest evacuation operations in recent years as authorities race against time to move vulnerable communities to safety.
Massive Evacuation Drive Underway
Coastal districts in both states have been put on high alert, with disaster response teams working tirelessly to evacuate residents from low-lying areas. "Our priority is zero casualty. We have moved thousands of people to cyclone shelters and relief camps," stated a senior official from the Odisha Disaster Management Authority.
