Fresh Snowfall Blankets High Altitudes of Himachal Pradesh, Mercury Dips Significantly
The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh experienced a fresh spell of snowfall on Wednesday, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures across the state. Kukumseri in the Lahaul-Spiti district recorded the lowest minimum temperature of -5.9°C, highlighting the intense cold conditions in the region.
Snowfall Across Multiple Districts and Key Passes
Light snowfall was observed in the high-altitude areas of several districts, including Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Chamba. This weather activity also extended to significant locations such as the Atal Tunnel and high mountain passes, notably the Rohtang Pass, which are crucial for tourism and transportation in the state.
Impact on Temperatures in Tourist Destinations
The fresh snowfall led to a notable decline in mercury levels across many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Among popular tourist spots, Manali emerged as the coldest, with a minimum temperature of 5.4°C. Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 7.4°C, while Dharamshala saw 9.4°C, indicating varied but generally cooler conditions in these areas.
Weather Forecast for the Coming Days
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, the weather is likely to remain clear in the coming days. This forecast suggests a potential respite from the snowfall, allowing for clearer skies and possibly milder conditions, though temperatures may still remain low due to the recent cold spell.
