Jharkand Prepares for Summer as Winter Season Draws to a Close

According to the meteorological office in Ranchi, winter is in its final phase across Jharkhand, with the onset of summer anticipated to commence from the last week of February. Deputy director Abhishek Anand of the Ranchi Met office confirmed this seasonal transition, highlighting that various parts of the state, including the capital city, will experience warmer conditions soon.

Temperature Increases Expected Across the State

Anand detailed that both maximum and minimum temperatures are projected to start rising from the upcoming week. Specifically, there will be a notable increase of 2 to 3 degrees in the minimum temperature and at least 2 degrees in the maximum temperature statewide, beginning Tuesday. This upward trend signals the official arrival of summer by the end of this month.

Absence of Rainfall Due to Weak Western Disturbances

In addition to the temperature changes, Anand noted a significant lack of rainfall this winter season. He explained that no precipitation has occurred anywhere in Jharkhand, including Ranchi, and there are no chances of rainfall in the next seven days. This dry spell is attributed to the absence of very strong western disturbances, which typically play a crucial role in bringing rain to the region.

Elaborating on the meteorological phenomenon, Anand described how strong western disturbances usually form an induced cyclonic circulation near Rajasthan. This circulation moves eastwards, accumulating moisture from the Arabian Sea and later from the Bay of Bengal as it reaches Madhya Pradesh, ultimately causing rain in Jharkhand. However, due to the lack of such disturbances this season, only some cloud formation has been observed at various locations, with no resultant rainfall.

Recent Temperature Records Highlight Seasonal Shifts

Recent data from the Met office underscores the changing weather patterns. On Saturday, Chaibasa recorded the highest maximum temperature of 32.4°C, while Daltonganj experienced the lowest minimum temperature of 8.8°C. In the state capital, Ranchi, temperatures ranged from a high of 26.6°C to a low of 11°C, reflecting the gradual warming trend as winter phases out.

As Jharkhand transitions into summer, residents are advised to prepare for hotter days ahead, with ongoing monitoring by meteorological authorities to provide updates on weather conditions.
