Lucknow Weather Update: Temperatures Dip Further, Rain & Thunderstorms Forecast
Residents of Lucknow enjoyed a pleasantly cool Sunday as both maximum and minimum temperatures witnessed a noticeable drop. However, the weather is set to become more dynamic in the coming days with further temperature fluctuations and the arrival of a fresh western disturbance.
Sunday's Pleasant Conditions and Temperature Drop
On Sunday, Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 22.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius. This represented a fall of approximately four degrees in the maximum and two degrees in the minimum temperatures compared to previous days.
Senior scientist at the state meteorological department, Mohammad Danish, explained the reasons behind this change. He stated, "With the effect of the previous active western disturbance subsiding, and due to clear weather and cold, dry winds coming from snow-covered hilly regions, a significant drop in minimum temperatures and a slight drop in maximum temperatures have been observed across the state during the last 24 to 48 hours."
Weather Forecast for Monday and Early Week
The trend of falling temperatures is expected to continue into Monday. Danish noted that this pattern is likely to persist for the next 24 hours. On Monday, maximum and minimum temperatures are forecast to be around 22 and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Additionally, dense fog is anticipated in some districts, including isolated places over the Terai region, on Monday and Tuesday. However, this fog is expected to dissipate as the day progresses. The weather is most likely to remain dry over the state on Monday.
Upcoming Western Disturbance and Mid-Week Changes
A significant shift in weather conditions is on the horizon due to an upcoming strong western disturbance. This system is predicted to influence the region from Tuesday onwards.
Danish provided detailed insights into the expected impacts:
- Widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely in many parts of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Strong winds are also anticipated during this period.
- A rapid increase of 3-5 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is expected as the disturbance sets in.
- Following this, a rapid drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius in temperatures is forecast from January 29.
He elaborated, "Due to the influence of an upcoming strong western disturbance, widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning and strong winds is likely in many parts of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday. During this period, a rapid increase of 3-5 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is expected. This will be followed by a rapid drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius from Jan 29."
In summary, minimum temperatures are expected to fall further over the next 24 hours, followed by a rise of 3-5 degrees Celsius during the widespread rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather alerts and prepare for variable conditions, including potential fog, rain, and temperature swings in the days ahead.
