Nashik Records Hottest Day of the Season as Temperatures Soar to 36°C
On Wednesday, Nashik experienced the hottest day of the current season, with the maximum temperature climbing to 36°C, a significant increase from Tuesday's 35.2°C. According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), the minimum temperature also rose to 16°C on Wednesday, compared to 14°C recorded on February 28.
Historical Comparison and Seasonal Trends
On the same day last year, Nashik registered a maximum temperature of 35°C and a minimum of 17.3°C, indicating a slight variation in this year's heat patterns. The sudden spike in daytime temperatures over the past two to three days has driven residents to purchase caps, sunscreens, and other sun-protective accessories to manage the escalating heat.
IMD Forecast and Regional Impact
IMD officials have projected that Nashik's maximum temperature is likely to remain around the same level for the next two to three days, with a potential further increase of one or two degrees thereafter. This heat surge is not isolated to Nashik alone.
In Jalgaon district, the mercury soared to 38°C on Wednesday, marking the highest maximum temperature of the season there, up from 37.2°C on Tuesday. Similarly, Malegaon city in Nashik district witnessed a sharp rise, with the maximum temperature increasing from 35.5°C on Tuesday to 36.8°C on Wednesday, and the minimum temperature rising from 15.2°C to 16.8°C over the same period.
Niphad, a major grape-growing belt in Nashik district, recorded a maximum temperature of 36.3°C on Wednesday, up from 35.8°C on Tuesday, while the minimum temperature dropped slightly to 12.6°C.
The escalating temperatures highlight the onset of warmer weather in the region, prompting concerns and adaptive measures among the local population.
