Western Disturbances Set to Influence North Indian Weather Pattern

The India Meteorological Department has issued a detailed weather update indicating that two separate western disturbance systems are poised to affect northern regions of the country. While these atmospheric phenomena will create noticeable weather changes, residents of Haryana should not anticipate any rainfall in the coming days.

Current System Tracking Eastward

According to meteorological experts at IMD's Chandigarh centre, the first western disturbance is currently positioned over north-east Iran and Afghanistan. This weather system is being steered eastwards by mid-tropospheric westerlies, creating significant pressure gradients that meteorologists predict will result in gusty surface winds across the region over the next seventy-two hours.

The impact on plains areas will be primarily limited to strong surface winds, with isolated instances of shallow fog anticipated in some locations. Temperature fluctuations are also expected as the system moves through the region, though no precipitation is forecast for Haryana, including the Gurgaon metropolitan area.

Second System Expected from February 8

A fresh western disturbance is likely to begin influencing weather patterns in the western Himalayan region starting February 8. Despite this development, meteorological models continue to show no precipitation expected for Haryana from this second system either. The IMD's seven-day outlook confirms dry weather conditions will persist across the state until at least February 12, with no weather warnings currently issued.

Temperature Trends Across Haryana

Recent temperature recordings show interesting patterns across the state. On Friday morning, Gurgaon recorded a minimum temperature of 9.3°C, slightly below normal levels and marginally higher than the previous day's 8.6°C. The city's maximum temperature rose to 23.1°C, representing an increase of 0.9°C compared to Wednesday's 22.2°C.

Across Haryana, average maximum temperatures have climbed by 0.9°C and are now approaching normal seasonal levels. Faridabad emerged as the hottest location in the state with a maximum temperature of 24.9°C, followed closely by Hisar and Mahendragarh at 24.6°C each. On the cooler end of the spectrum, Yamunanagar's Hathnikund station recorded a maximum of just 20.3°C.

Night temperatures have shown a marginal increase as well, with the state's average minimum temperature rising by 0.3°C compared to Wednesday's readings. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Mahendragarh at 6.6°C, indicating the varied thermal conditions across different parts of the state.

Weather Implications for Residents

Residents of Gurgaon and surrounding areas in Haryana should prepare for:

  • Increased wind speeds over the next three days
  • Possible shallow fog in isolated locations
  • Temperature variations between day and night
  • Continued dry conditions with no rainfall expected

The meteorological department emphasizes that while these western disturbances will create noticeable atmospheric changes, their impact on the plains will be limited primarily to wind patterns and temperature adjustments rather than any significant precipitation events.
