A 32-year-old government doctor posted at a primary health centre in Jhajjar district has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for allegedly stalking minor girls, police said on Tuesday.

A complaint lodged by the mother of one of the girls alleged that the accused chased the minors through village lanes in a car, made objectionable gestures, and threw a piece of paper containing his phone number in a village in the Badli area on April 18 evening. Terrified, the girls ran towards nearby fields and managed to reach home safely before informing their family members. The victim's family identified the accused as Naveen, a resident of Ladpur village, employed at Badsa health centre. He is unmarried.
Legal Action
A police officer said an FIR was registered and sections of the Pocso Act were added after the statements of the girls were recorded before a court. Jhajjar Commissioner of Police Rajshri Singh said efforts to apprehend the accused were underway. The families said the girls continue to live in fear as the accused has not yet been arrested, alleging that attempts were still being made to strike a compromise.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of minors in the area. Police have assured that the accused will be apprehended soon and strict action will be taken. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
