A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Kanpur's Chakeri Ahirwan area on Tuesday when a road accident claimed the life of leather trader Manoj Kumar, and his wife Prema succumbed to shock shortly after learning of his death. The incident has plunged the entire locality into deep mourning, with neighbors struggling to comprehend the couple's devastating end.
Accident Details
Manoj Kumar, 45, a resident of Ruma, was returning home with his 41-year-old wife Prema from a relative's house in Naubasta on Tuesday afternoon. In the Ahirwan vicinity near the Ramadevi flyover, his speeding motorcycle lost control and crashed into the divider. Both sustained severe injuries. Bystanders alerted the police, who transported the couple to Kanshiram Hospital.
Medical Response and Fatalities
Tragically, Manoj succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Prema, critically injured, was later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital. Station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra confirmed that family members reported that upon receiving news of her husband's death, Prema fell into profound shock, leading to a rapid decline in her health. She passed away while receiving medical care on Wednesday.
