American Comedian Appeals to Indian Community Over MAGA Support
American comedian Walter Masterson has made a direct appeal to the Indian community. He asked them to reconsider their support for the MAGA movement. This call came after a viral video showed Indians celebrating festivals in Texas.
Viral Video Sparks Comedian's Reaction
Masterson posted his thoughts on social media platform X. He referenced the joyful celebrations of Holi, Diwali, and Indian weddings. "It's amazing," he wrote. Then he expressed his wish clearly. "I really wish people in the Indian community stopped supporting MAGA," Masterson stated. He added a stark warning: "They wholeheartedly do not want you here."
The comedian was reacting to a specific video. An X user shared footage of Indians wearing traditional attire during festivities in Texas. This user responded to Texas Governor Greg Abbott's recent remarks. The comment contained offensive language about Texas demographics.
Texas Governor's Controversial Policies
Governor Abbott had earlier announced new laws. He signed legislation prohibiting sister-city agreements with several countries. Abbott labeled these nations as "foreign adversaries." The list included China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia.
The governor also approved measures preventing certain groups from buying land in Texas. He specifically mentioned CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood. These actions have created tension within diverse communities in the state.
Racist Attacks Target Indian-Origin Politicians
This incident occurs alongside other disturbing events. Several racist attacks have recently targeted Indian-origin politicians in America. MAGA influencer Elijah Schaffer faced significant backlash for his comments.
Schaffer mocked Abraham George, the Indian-origin chairman of the Texas Republican Party. He made fun of George's accent during his criticism. The influencer claimed Texas was "turning into Mumbai." He also accused the party of facilitating H1B immigration fraud for years.
"The Texas GOP is led by an Indian with an Indian accent," Schaffer said. "Now you know why Texas is turning into Mumbai and the centre of H1B immigration fraud. Our own party is orchestrating it, it's not just the Democrats."
Schaffer made additional inflammatory remarks about Indian loyalty. "Indians are loyal to their race and non-Indian politicians are paid off," he claimed.
Texas GOP Chairman Faces Abuse
Abraham George brings a unique perspective to his position. He is a Christian who was elected Texas GOP chairman in 2024. George has previously encountered online abuse for his views.
He defended gun rights and constitutional freedoms in a video shared by the Texas GOP. "God gave you life. God gave you liberty, and God gives the duty to protect both," George declared. He described this belief as fundamental to Texas identity. "That's not a policy, that is Texas DNA," he emphasized.
The chairman rejected several gun control measures in his statement. These included red flag laws, magazine bans, and waiting periods. His strong stance has made him both a respected figure and a target for criticism.
The situation highlights growing tensions within American political discourse. It raises important questions about diversity, acceptance, and political alignment in today's society.
