Manhunt for Abdul Ghafoori in Toronto Homicide Case

Canadian authorities have initiated a nationwide search for a 32-year-old Toronto man, identified as the primary suspect in the homicide of a young Indian-origin woman. The victim, 30-year-old Himanshi Khurana, was found deceased in a Toronto residence, in a case police are investigating as intimate partner violence.

Toronto Police Launch Nationwide Search

According to the Toronto Police Service, the incident began when officers responded to a missing person report late on Friday, December 19, 2025, around 10:41 PM. The report originated from the area of Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West.

The search continued through the night. Tragically, at approximately 6:30 AM on Saturday, December 20, 2025, officers located the missing woman deceased inside a residence. Police quickly confirmed they were treating the death as a homicide.

The victim was later officially identified as Himanshi Khurana, a resident of Toronto. Investigators stated that Khurana and the suspect, Abdul Ghafoori, were known to each other and had been in a relationship. "They were in an intimate partner relationship," police confirmed to media outlets.

Suspect Wanted on First-Degree Murder Charge

Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for Abdul Ghafoori, also 32 and from Toronto. He is wanted for the serious charge of first-degree murder. A conviction for this charge in Canada carries the possibility of life imprisonment without parole, provided intent and premeditation are proven in court.

Authorities have released an image of Ghafoori and are urgently appealing to the public for assistance. "We have released an image of the suspect, and that is out there, and we’re appealing to the public, if anybody would happen to know where this man is to please call police," a police spokesperson stated.

This homicide marks Toronto's 40th murder of 2025. The investigation remains active as police continue efforts to locate and arrest Ghafoori.

Indian Consulate Expresses Shock and Offers Support

The killing has drawn significant attention in both Canada and India. The Consulate General of India in Toronto has expressed profound sadness over the incident.

In a statement, the Consulate said it was "deeply saddened and shocked by the murder of Ms. Himanshi Khurana, a young Indian national, in Toronto." They extended their deepest condolences to her grieving family.

The Consulate confirmed it has been in close contact regarding the case over the past several days and is providing all possible assistance to the family. This support is being coordinated with Canadian authorities as the investigation progresses.
