Kanpur: A farmer exhibition at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology showcased natural farming techniques and sustainable agricultural practices aimed at improving farmers’ income while reducing dependence on chemical inputs.

Exhibition Highlights

The exhibition featured stalls promoting desi and natural farming methods, where farmers were introduced to techniques for enhancing soil fertility and boosting productivity through chemical-free cultivation. Experts highlighted the benefits of liquid bio-fertilisers such as Rhizobium and Azotobacter, which can lower cultivation costs while improving crop yields without harming soil health.

Alternative Livelihood Opportunities

The event also focused on alternative livelihood opportunities, including poultry farming. Farmers received guidance on starting small-scale poultry units, selecting suitable breeds and managing bird health effectively.

Organic Product ‘Griffin’

Another attraction was the organic product ‘Griffin’, which, when mixed with compost, helps improve soil health by balancing pH levels and strengthening plant root systems.

Government Schemes and Horticulture

The stall of the Namami Gange Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana drew significant interest, distributing literature on natural farming practices and promoting self-reliance through the use of locally available household resources.

Meanwhile, the district horticulture department encouraged farmers to adopt garlic cultivation as a profitable cash crop, offering practical advice on seed selection, cultivation techniques and post-harvest management.
