Stock Markets Shut on Tuesday for Ambedkar Jayanti, Commodity Exchanges See Partial Closures
Domestic stock exchanges, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will remain closed for trading on Tuesday, April 14, in observance of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti. This closure will halt all trading activities across equity, derivatives, and equities-linked segments for the entire day.
Commodity Markets Operate on Split Schedule
Commodity markets will experience a partial impact due to the holiday. The Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) will remain shut during the morning session but will resume trading in the evening from 5 pm to 11:30 pm. In contrast, the National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will be closed for both morning and evening sessions, with no trading activity throughout the day.
Trading across all exchanges is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, April 15, as per the standard market calendar.

Exchanges reserve the right to revise the holiday calendar if necessary, with any changes communicated through official circulars to ensure transparency and compliance.
Earlier this year, markets were closed on January 26 for Republic Day. March saw three trading holidays: Holi on March 3, Shri Ram Navami on March 26, and Shri Mahavir Jayanti on March 31, reflecting the diverse cultural and religious observances in India.
