The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC NET June 2026 examination from June 22 to June 30 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. This national-level eligibility test is for candidates aspiring to qualify for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions, and PhD admissions.
UGC NET June 2026 Exam Schedule and Timings
The examination will be held daily in two shifts: first shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, and second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Candidates are advised to report to their examination centres at least two hours before the start of the exam to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
Admit Card and Required Documents
Candidates must download their admit cards and verify all details, including exam date, reporting time, shift, and allotted centre. They should carefully read the instructions on the hall ticket. At the test centre, candidates need to carry a printed admit card and one original photo identity document (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID Card, or Driving Licence). Additionally, a passport-size photograph (preferably the same as uploaded during application) is required. PwD/PwBD candidates must also carry a relevant disability certificate. No candidate will be allowed entry without a valid admit card and photo ID proof.
Prohibited Items in the Examination Hall
NTA has strictly banned electronic gadgets and unauthorised materials. Prohibited items include mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, earphones, written notes, books, printed material, bags, purses, wallets, and any communication or storage devices. Possession of such items may lead to cancellation of candidature and disciplinary action.
UGC NET June 2026 Exam Pattern
The exam is a single three-hour session without a break, comprising two papers conducted together. Paper I assesses teaching and research aptitude, while Paper II tests subject-specific knowledge based on the candidate's chosen discipline. The test consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions and carries a total of 300 marks. Notably, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers, allowing candidates to attempt all questions.
