The Delhi government will establish special cooling zones for parents accompanying candidates appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on June 21, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Thursday.
Arrangements at All Exam Centres
These facilities will be set up at all 97 exam centres across the capital, including 69 government schools and 28 Kendriya Vidyalayas. The cooling zones will be equipped with seating, drinking water, shikanji (a traditional lemonade), oral rehydration salts (ORS), tea, and first-aid facilities to help parents cope with the heat while waiting outside the centres.
Free Bus Travel for Students
Earlier, Gupta had announced that students appearing for the exam will be allowed to travel free on Delhi government buses on June 21 by showing their admit cards.
The Chief Minister stated that the initiative aims to address the discomfort faced by parents, who often spend several hours outside exam centres. “While candidates take the exam, parents wait outside in difficult conditions. Their anxiety and discomfort often go unnoticed,” she said.
“Many were forced to stand for long periods in extreme heat. This will now change, with comfortable waiting arrangements at exam centres,” she added.
