Asmita NXT: 20 Girls Land Jobs After AI Training in Pune

Asmita NXT Project in Pune Empowers Girls with AI Training and Employment

In a significant initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide, Rotary Bibwewadi's global grant project, Asmita NXT, has successfully enabled 20 girls from economically weaker sections to secure jobs at top-tier companies. Supported by the HG Foundation and Serrala, this project focuses on providing advanced education in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to underprivileged young women, fostering skill development and career opportunities.

Comprehensive Six-Month AI Training Program

The selected girls underwent an intensive six-month training program in AI at the Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), which served as the academic partner for this initiative. PICT designed a specialized training module tailored to equip participants with cutting-edge skills in AI and machine learning. To facilitate their learning, the girls were provided with free advanced laptops, ensuring they had the necessary tools to excel in the program.

Selection Criteria and Project Goals

Asmita NXT targeted girls from families with an annual income of less than six lakh rupees, who faced barriers to pursuing advanced education due to financial constraints or lack of skill-based training. The selection was based on a rigorous test, identifying candidates who demonstrated potential but lacked opportunities for industry-relevant education. The project's primary goal is to empower these girls by enhancing their employability in the rapidly growing field of AI.

Successful Job Placements and Career Outcomes

Following the training, the participants gained hands-on experience through internships at various companies, which paved the way for full-time employment. Most of the 20 girls have secured positions at renowned organizations, including Serrala, Cap Gemini, Voice Vera, and UST Bengaluru. Their annual salary packages range from Rs. 5 lakhs to 8 lakhs, marking a transformative shift in their economic status and career prospects.

Personal Experiences Shared at Asmita Symposium

At a special program organized by Rotary Bibwewadi at JW Marriott, several girls shared their journeys at the Asmita Symposium. Participants like Shravani Raut, Tejal Raut, Dnyaneshwari Mhaisane, Nikita Kudale, Prajakta Sidankar, Madhumita Jadhav, and Pratiksha Kothari expressed how the AI course introduced them to new concepts and significantly altered their lives. They highlighted the profound impact on their personalities and confidence, attributing their success to the comprehensive training and support received.

Expert Insights on AI's Role in Future Careers

PICT Associate Professor Geetanjali Kale emphasized the importance of AI in contemporary life and future advancements. She stated, "This course was meticulously prepared for girls from economically weaker sections and implemented effectively. The participants completed it with determination, yielding excellent results." Kale further noted that AI is becoming an essential component of various industries, underscoring the relevance of such training programs in preparing youth for upcoming challenges.

Broader Implications for Social Empowerment

The Asmita NXT project exemplifies how targeted educational initiatives can drive social change by providing marginalized groups with access to high-demand skills. By focusing on AI, a field with immense growth potential, the project not only addresses unemployment but also promotes gender inclusivity in technology sectors. This model could inspire similar efforts across India, leveraging partnerships between NGOs, corporations, and academic institutions to create sustainable impact.

In summary, Asmita NXT stands as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that with the right resources and training, girls from disadvantaged backgrounds can achieve remarkable career milestones in the tech industry.
