The minor's guardians compelled her into marriage with a relative based in Pune in December 2025, despite her vocal protests. Following the wedding, her husband relocated her to Pune, where she entered what activists describe as the darkest chapter of her life. She endured severe physical violence from her husband and relentless verbal harassment from her in-laws, creating an environment of constant fear and oppression.
Rather than succumbing to the pressure, the young girl demonstrated extraordinary bravery by approaching the Pune police to report the abuse. Her detailed testimony resulted in a formal case being registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against 11 individuals, including her husband and in-laws.
