MBBS Student Found Hanging in Rims Hostel Room

Ranchi: The body of a second-year MBBS student of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) was discovered hanging in his hostel room on Saturday, according to police. The deceased has been identified as Akshit Kujur, a native of Simdega district, whose parents are currently residing in Punjab.

Discovery and Immediate Response

During the investigation, Dr. Shiv Priya, Dean of Students Welfare at Rims, stated that Kujur's friends found his body after they knocked on his door and received no response. "When they finally managed to break through the door, they found him hanging. They brought him down and rushed him to the emergency ward where he was declared brought dead on arrival," Dr. Priya said.

Police Investigation and Preliminary Findings

Police have indicated that, prima facie, the medical student appears to have died by suicide. The exact cause of death will be confirmed following a post-mortem examination. A source revealed that Kujur was reportedly battling mental stress due to a broken relationship.
