Mangaluru Gears Up for PhysioCon 2026: A Landmark International Physiotherapy Conference
The vibrant city of Mangaluru is set to host PhysioCon 2026, a prestigious two-day international physiotherapy conference organized by the South Canara Physiotherapy Teachers Association. This major event will take place at the TMA Pai Convention Centre from April 10, drawing attention from healthcare professionals worldwide.
Conference Theme: Embracing Technology and Autonomy for Health
The conference theme, 'Movement is health-moving into the next era through technology and autonomy', underscores a forward-thinking vision for physical wellness. UT Iftikar Fareed, the organizing chairman and chairman of the Karnataka State Council for Allied and Healthcare, emphasized that this theme represents a transformative approach. It aims to merge human movement with cutting-edge technology to foster independence and enhance longevity in healthcare practices.
With an anticipated attendance of around 6,000 delegates, PhysioCon 2026 promises to be a hub of knowledge exchange and innovation in the physiotherapy field.
Inauguration and Keynote Sessions Led by Prominent Figures
The conference will be inaugurated by Sharanprakash R Patil, the Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood. UT Khader, the Assembly Speaker, will preside over the proceedings, adding political significance to the event.
Dinesh Gundu Rao, the District Minister, is slated to deliver the keynote address, highlighting the importance of physiotherapy in public health. As a guest of honour, Yagna Unmesh Shukla, Chairperson of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will attend, underscoring national support for the conference.
Special Addresses from Academic Leaders
Adding academic depth to the event, special addresses will be delivered by two esteemed figures:
- Dr HS Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, who will share insights on integrating technology into healthcare education.
- Dr Bhagavan BC, Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, expected to discuss advancements in physiotherapy research and practice.
This lineup of speakers ensures that PhysioCon 2026 will cover a broad spectrum of topics, from policy and education to practical applications in technology-driven physiotherapy.
