Heroic Ambulance Team Ensures Safe Delivery in Challenging Conditions

In a remarkable display of skill and composure, an emergency medical technician (EMT) team from the Roing district hospital in Arunachal Pradesh successfully delivered a baby inside a moving ambulance last Friday. The incident occurred in the Lower Dibang Valley district, highlighting the critical role of emergency medical services in remote areas.

A Race Against Time from a Remote Village

The emergency began when the team received a distress call concerning a pregnant woman from Haru Pahar, a remote village located within the Koronu circle. Responding immediately, the team, consisting of EMT Binggu Tayeng and pilot Deepok Gurung, embarked on a mission to transport the woman to the district hospital in Roing. The journey was fraught with challenges from the start, as the village is situated about an hour away from the main road, with the team having to navigate difficult terrain and poor road conditions.

Swift Action Leads to a Successful Delivery

The situation escalated during the transit when the patient went into severe labor. Faced with this critical scenario and unable to reach the hospital in time, EMT Binggu Tayeng relied on her professional training to take immediate action. She safely conducted the delivery inside the moving ambulance, ensuring the wellbeing of both the mother and the newborn. Demonstrating thorough professionalism, Tayeng also methodically assessed the patient's vital signs both before and after the delivery.

Dr. Toko Ben, the Emergency Medical Logistics Coordinator executive, confirmed the successful outcome of this high-pressure operation. He praised the team for their swift and effective response under such demanding circumstances. This event underscores the invaluable service provided by the free medical ambulance service in connecting India's hard-to-reach interior regions with essential healthcare, often making the difference between life and death.
