The in-charge medical superintendent of New Civil Hospital (NCH) in Surat, Dr Dharitri Parmar, was transferred to Vadodara on Saturday and appointed as the dean of Government Medical College in Vadodara. This development follows a recent visit by Gujarat's Minister of State for Health, Praful Pansheriya, to NCH, during which he reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the hospital's administration and the quality of patient services.
Minister's Surprise Inspection
According to sources, the transfer order was issued after several shortcomings were observed during the minister's surprise inspection. Pansheriya reviewed the functioning of multiple departments and flagged instances of mismanagement that were causing inconvenience to patients and their attendants. The minister specifically raised concerns over sanitation and overall patient care management during his visit.
Immediate Directives Issued
During the inspection, Pansheriya directed hospital authorities to take immediate corrective measures. He emphasized the need to improve cleanliness, streamline services, and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of essential facilities. Hospital sources confirmed that the administration has been asked to implement the minister's directions on priority and address existing deficiencies without delay.
New Appointment
Following Dr Parmar's transfer, Dr Parul Vadgama, a professor in the TB and chest department, has been appointed as the new in-charge medical superintendent of NCH. The hospital administration is now focused on complying with the minister's instructions to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
