PM Modi to Lead Yoga for 30,000 Students in Kolkata

Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in a 45-minute yoga session alongside approximately 30,000 students on Red Road on June 21, marking International Yoga Day. The event aims to promote the benefits of yoga among the youth.

Preparatory Meeting Held

On Thursday, principals of schools and colleges, along with vice-chancellors and registrars of state universities, convened at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. They received detailed instructions to ensure the event's success. Institutional heads were briefed on the action plan for the smooth conduct of the event.

Eligibility and Registration

School heads were informed that only students from Class IX and above are eligible to participate. Institutions must use their login credentials to register students on the designated portal. A QR-coded entry ticket, validating the registration, will be sent to the registered mobile number of the participating student's teacher.

Pre-Event Practice Sessions

Schools have been asked to oversee pre-event practice sessions for the participants. In accordance with a recent directive, school heads have been instructed to conduct specific pre-event activities ahead of the final celebration.

West Bengal Foundation Day

Prior to International Yoga Day, June 20 will be celebrated as West Bengal Foundation Day.
