ECR's Danapur Division Conducts Major Ticket Checking Drive, Fines 549 Passengers
In a significant enforcement action, the Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR) executed a rigorous ticket checking drive at Danapur station late Tuesday evening. The operation, which targeted long-distance mail and express trains, continued until 9:30 PM and resulted in penalties for 549 passengers, with a total fine of Rs 3 lakh collected.
Details of the Inspection and Trains Involved
According to Abhinav Siddarth, the senior divisional commercial manager (senior DCM) of Danapur, inspections were carried out on 11 trains to ensure thorough compliance. The trains included the Howrah–New Delhi Poorva Express, Patna–Kasi Jansadharan Express, Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Vikramshila Express, Islampur–New Delhi Magadh Express, Rajendra Nagar Terminal-New Delhi Sampoorna Kranti Express, and Kota–Patna Express, among others. To facilitate comprehensive checking in each coach, additional stoppage time was provided at Danapur station during the drive.

The primary aim of the ticket checking drive was to verify that passengers in reserved coaches carried valid tickets, thereby enhancing safety and convenience for all travelers. Special emphasis was placed on the safety of women passengers, particularly in reserved coaches, to address concerns related to overcrowding and discomfort. Unauthorised travel, which often leads to such issues, was a key focus of the operation, as highlighted by the senior DCM.
