Governor Anandiben Patel Links Education System Strength to Anganwadi Center Improvements
In a significant address on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel stated that the education system will not strengthen unless the Anganwadi center system is improved. She made these remarks while speaking to students and teachers at Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in Arjunganj, Lucknow.
Inauguration of Computer Lab and School Website
During her visit, Governor Patel inaugurated a computer lab and the school's official website. She emphasized that Anganwadi centers should become a center of attraction for children, drawing from her extensive experience in the Anganwadi sector in Gujarat.
"While modern education and the study of artificial intelligence are essential, we should not forget our cultural heritage and traditions," Patel said, appreciating Vidya Bharti for promoting value-based education.
Implementing the 'KG to PG' Concept
Patel highlighted innovative approaches from Gujarat, where Anganwadis were linked to universities to incorporate a comprehensive 'KG to PG' concept. This initiative aims to create a seamless educational pathway from kindergarten to post-graduation.
Emphasis on Cultural and Traditional Education
The governor stressed the importance of educating young children at home about:
- Indian culture and traditions
- The Ramayana and Mahabharata
- Scientific contributions of sages and saints
She argued that this foundational knowledge is crucial alongside modern academic pursuits.
Cervical Cancer Vaccination Drive
In a public health initiative, Patel urged the audience to vaccinate girls aged 9 to 14 years to prevent cervical cancer. She reported that 40,000 girls have already been vaccinated in the state with public support.
The vaccination process for an additional 1.5 lakh girls is currently underway, facilitated through collaboration with the Serum Institute of Pune and Jan Bhavan.
