IndiGo Flight Targeted by Bomb Threat Written in Lipstick, Second Security Scare Within Hours

A chilling bomb threat was reported on an IndiGo flight operating from Dibrugarh to Kolkata on Saturday evening, after a suspicious message was discovered inside the aircraft's toilet. The alarming threat, which was reportedly written using lipstick, was found onboard IndiGo flight 6E6894, an Airbus A-320 aircraft bound for Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata.

Aircraft Lands Safely, Passengers Evacuated to Isolation Bay

The aircraft executed a safe landing at Kolkata airport at 7:37 pm local time. In immediate response to the security threat, airport authorities swiftly moved the plane to an isolation bay, following established security protocols designed for such high-risk situations. All passengers were safely deboarded from the aircraft without any reported injuries, as confirmed by officials from Kolkata airport.

Second Bomb Scare for IndiGo on the Same Day

This disturbing incident occurred merely hours after a similar bomb scare was reported on another IndiGo flight earlier on Saturday. That flight, scheduled to operate from Kolkata to Shillong, was also targeted by a security threat.

According to the airline's statement, a security threat was noticed onboard flight 6E 7304 during the boarding process at Kolkata airport on February 14. Crew members discovered a piece of paper inside the aircraft's toilet compartment that explicitly stated there was a bomb onboard. Authorities immediately evacuated all passengers and shifted the aircraft to an isolation bay for a comprehensive and detailed inspection.

Airline Follows Standard Operating Procedures, Cooperates with Authorities

An IndiGo spokesperson emphasized that the airline promptly informed the relevant authorities without any delay and rigorously followed all standard operating procedures. The spokesperson issued a detailed statement, saying, "Following the Standard Operating Procedure, we informed the relevant authorities immediately and are fully cooperating with them in carrying out the necessary security checks. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers. As always, the safety and security of our customers, crew and aircraft are our topmost priorities."

Airport authorities have confirmed that thorough security checks were carried out on both aircraft as per established protocol. The investigations are ongoing to determine the source and credibility of these threats, which have raised serious concerns about aviation security.
