Jaipur Family Urgently Seeks Evacuation of Ill Granddaughter from Iran Amid Regional Strikes
A family residing in the historic Walled City area of Subhash Chowk, Jaipur, has made a desperate appeal to the Government of India to facilitate the immediate evacuation of their six-year-old granddaughter from Iran's Qom district. This urgent request comes in light of the child's serious neurological condition and the escalating military strikes involving the United States and Israel in the region, which have heightened safety concerns.
Anxious Wait for Contact Amid Rising Tensions
The residents of Taqvi Manzil, a four-storey building, have been closely monitoring news updates as their daughter Hina Taqvi, son-in-law Hasan Abbas, and granddaughter Maryam remain stranded in Qom. Reports indicate they have witnessed heavy missile attacks, adding to the family's distress. Communication has been severed since the afternoon of February 28, with the last message from Hina simply stating, "Pray for us." This lack of contact has left the family in a state of constant anxiety, fearing for their loved ones' well-being.
Medical Concerns and Evacuation Hurdles
Maryam suffers from a severe neurological disorder that necessitates frequent hospitalisation and specialised medical care. With regional tensions intensifying, the family worries that access to essential treatment could be severely disrupted or become unavailable. Habib Zehra, Hina's mother, expressed her desperation, saying, "With every passing hour, I keep calling their numbers only to find them not connected. My granddaughter is ill and requires immediate medical help. In the present situation, she may not be able to get the treatment she needs there. It is possible only in our country."
Compounding the crisis, Maryam's passport has expired and is currently under renewal. This administrative issue could potentially delay any evacuation efforts if special flights for Indian nationals are organised, adding another layer of complexity to an already dire situation.
Appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi
In their plea for assistance, the family has directly appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom they describe as one of the most powerful leaders globally, to intervene. They are urging for the safe evacuation of not only their relatives but all Indians in the region. Zehra emphasised, "We appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is among the most powerful leaders in the world, to intervene and ensure the safe evacuation of Indians not only from Iran but from the entire region."
As the family continues to wait anxiously for any form of contact, their hope remains steadfast for the safe return of Hina, Hasan, and Maryam. The broader context of the West Asia crisis, including reports of Indian ships stuck in the Persian Gulf and casualties among sailors, underscores the urgency of such evacuation requests.
